Art prize update

Summer is here again - and a whole new crop of art prizes and competitions to enter. Most of these close around the end of January, so be sure to follow the links if you need more information and get your entry ready before Christmas and New Year madness ensues!

Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing 2009
This is an acquisitive prize with $15 000 awarded to the winning work. The judge for 2009 is Deborah Edwards, Senior Curator of Australian Art at Art Gallery New South Wales. Further information and entry forms available here, entries close 16th January 2009.

She who discovers
Female artists are invited to enter contemporary works for this exhibition in celebration of International Women's Day 2009. Entries close 21st January 2009, application forms and information available here.

Port Jackson Press Graduate Printmaking Award 2009
This prize is open to printmaking graduates who have just completed their studies. The major prize is acquisitive, and the winning print will become part of the Port Jackson Press Australia archive. The winner also receives $4000, and a feature article published in Imprint. Sound good? Visit the Port Jackson Press website to download an application form. Entries close 30th January 2009.

Chillout Photography Prize 2009
The Ballarat International Foto Biennale presents this $3000 prize - all forms of still photo based art will be considered, including all types of analogue and digital photography, both color and monochrome. Works are to be based on the theme 'Diversity'. Entry closes 23rd January 2009, further details and entry forms available here.

Lorne Sculpture Exhibition 2009
Call for entries is now open: 30 outdoor and 15 indoor sculptures, closing date is 30th January 2009. Prizes include the Regional artist Award, Environmental Award, Storefront Award, People's Choice Award, and Emerging Artists Award. Visit the website for details.
