Opening hours - Winter break 2010

Opening hours for the library over the winter break are as follows:

Monday 5 July - Friday 9 July 9:30am - 4:30pm

Monday 12 July - Friday 16 July 9:30 - 4:30pm

Monday 19 July - Friday 23 July CLOSED

Remember that anything you borrow from now til the end of semester will be due back on the first day of next semester - Monday 26 July.

Art Prize

The PADDINGTON ART PRIZE 2010, is a $20,000 acquisitive prize for a painting inspired by the Australian Landscape. This National prize now in its seventh year will be held in OCTOBER, during the CITY OF SYDNEY, ART AND ABOUT FESTIVAL.
The National Finalists Exhibition Opening and Prize Presentation Wednesday 13th October 6pm-8pm, at MENZIES ART BRANDS GALLERY.12 Todman Avenue Kensington NSW 2033
Exhibition current until Sunday 24th October.
Non Aquisitive Prizes in addition the UNSW COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS will offer a selected artist the opportunity to create a limited edition print, plus MENZIES ART BRANDS will present a prize of Art Supplies to the value of $500 to each of the two recipients of the Honourable Mentions.

Art Prizes

The Mosman Art Prize

While Mosman Council sponsors the major prize of $20,000 (acquisitive) and the Commendation Prize of $1,000 (non-acquisitive), other sponsors include Mosman Toyota Viewers’ Choice Prize of $1,000 (non-acquisitive). The Young Emerging Artists’ Award (under 35 years) is personally sponsored by Amanda Phillips. The Mosman Art Gallery is indebted to these sponsors for their generous support and commitment to the Mosman Art Prize.

In addition to the major prize of $20,000, Mosman Council sponsors the Allan Gamble Memorial Art Prize. An accomplished architect and artist, and Mosman Councillor for 24 years, Allan Gamble was the founder of the Mosman Art Prize. Valued at $3,000 (non-acquisitive), the prize will be awarded to the best painting which explores the theme of ‘the built environment’.
Entries for the Mosman Art Prize must be received on Monday 19 July 2010 at the Mosman Art Gallery between 8.00am & 7.00pm. Entries must be accompanied by a completed form.

2010 $30,000 jacaranda acquisitive drawing award
The Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA) has been the means by which the Grafton Regional Gallery has gathered a unique and impressive collection of contemporary Australian drawing. The award was established in 1988 and is now a biennial event.
The Drawing collection includes works by John Philippides, Robert Moore, Thomas Spence, Gordon Bennet, Godwin Bradbeer, Maria Kontis, Michael Zavros, Dean Bowen, John Cattapan and Deborah Klein.
