Adelaide Perry Art Prize

Entries for 2013 Prize Now Open

Australian artists are invited to enter the Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing 2013.

The $20 000 acquisitive award attracts hundreds of artists from across Australia and an exhibition of finalists is held in March each year. Entries close January 11 2013. Judge: Jenny Sages, artist.

The 2012 Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing finalists’ exhibition was officially opened by Mr John McDonald on Friday 24 February at PLC Sydney’s Adelaide Perry Gallery. Nick Mourtzakis was announced the winner with his work Untitled Drawing 2012. In its seventh year, the $20 000 acquisitive art award is among the most significant prizes for drawing in Australia.

In the initial stages of the judging process renowned art critic, Mr John McDonald, shortlisted 48 artworks for exhibition from over 420 entries submitted to the gallery.

Entries for the prize reflected the broad range of contemporary Australian artists’ approaches to drawing, with Mr John McDonald commenting on the quantity of exceptional works and the challenge this presented during the judging process. The works submitted were of a high calibre and as diverse in style as they were in genre.
